Help My Newborn Son Fight for His Life in the NICU
My name is Rajiv Patel, and I’m here with a father’s desperate plea to save my newborn baby boy, who is currently battling for his life in the Neonatal ICU at Surya Hospital, Mumbai.
My son was born on 13th June 2025, but what should have been the happiest day of our lives quickly turned into a nightmare. Just moments after birth, he was rushed to the ICU with multiple life-threatening complications. As parents, we were shattered when the doctors told us that he suffers from a long list of severe medical conditions — things we never imagined a newborn would face.
He is currently suffering from:
- Respiratory Distress Syndrome — his tiny lungs are underdeveloped and failing.
- Bilateral Cleft Lip & Palate and Syndactyly (fused toes).
- Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia — a critical birth defect that required thoracoscopic surgery on 20th June.
- Thrombocytopenia (low platelets), neonatal jaundice, hypokalemia (low potassium), and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Due to these complications, my baby is currently on mechanical ventilation, IV fluids, and strong antibiotics. His condition remains critical, and the doctors expect that he will need to stay in the NICU for at least 2 to 3 more weeks to stabilize, gain weight, and receive essential nutrition and care.
The estimated cost of this hospitalization is around ₹13.5 lakhs. We’ve already spent close to everything we had on the initial emergency treatment and surgery. We do not have any insurance, and the daily ICU bills are overwhelming us beyond measure.
As a father, I am doing everything I can, but I am helpless against the mountain of medical expenses piling up. I humbly ask for your support — your donation, no matter how big or small, can help keep my child alive.
If you’re unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your network. Your help can give my son a chance to breathe, to grow, and to come home to us.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Rajiv Patel (Father)
The goal amount of the campaign may be higher than the attached estimates to address and aid the post-hospitalization expenses/contingencies including but not limited to prolonged medication, diagnostics, rehabilitation therapies, and follow-up doctor visits/consultations which vary from disease to disease.
