Help Shaili Agarwal Fight Ovarian Cancer and Reclaim Her Life

My name is Varnika Agarwal, and I am raising funds for my beloved mother, Shaili Agarwal, who has recently been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. What began as a joyful year for our family suddenly turned into one of the most challenging periods of our lives.

Just a few months ago, in mid-March, we celebrated my parents' 25th wedding anniversary with immense happiness and excitement. It was a beautiful family moment filled with laughter, love, and hope for the future. None of us could have imagined that within a few weeks, our lives would change so drastically.

Towards the end of March, my mother started experiencing severe pain on her left side. Initially, both we and the doctors believed it might be a kidney stone. We underwent multiple ultrasounds, consultations, and medical investigations. Throughout April, we met several doctors, and most of them diagnosed her condition as uterine fibroids and advised a laparoscopic procedure.

Based on those recommendations, we scheduled surgery for 20th May at a hospital in Meerut. However, just before the procedure, the surgeon carefully reviewed her blood reports and noticed certain values that appeared suspicious. He ordered another ultrasound, which revealed ovarian masses instead of uterine fibroids. Suddenly, everything we thought we knew about her condition changed.

We were confused and overwhelmed. While some doctors still suggested proceeding with laparoscopy, we felt uncertain and decided to seek further medical opinions. We consulted an oncologist who recommended a PET-CT scan. During this period, my mother's health continued to decline due to persistent pain, repeated tests, and emotional stress.

When we received the PET-CT results, we were devastated. One specialist informed us that the cancer had spread extensively and advised an urgent biopsy and chemotherapy. Our family was left shocked, frightened, and unsure how to process such life-changing news. Those were some of the most difficult days we have ever faced.

Seeking clarity and hope, we approached Apollo Hospital for a second opinion. There, the medical team carefully reviewed all reports and explained that proceeding with laparoscopy at that stage could have been a serious mistake. Additional tests and evaluations were conducted, and we were then referred to Dr. V.P. Singh, who gave us something we desperately needed—hope.

Dr. Singh reviewed the case thoroughly and spoke positively with our entire family. He reassured us that while the situation was serious, it was treatable with the right approach. Doctors have now advised immediate surgery followed by six cycles of chemotherapy to give my mother the best possible chance of recovery.

मार्च के आखिर में, मेरी माँ को अपने शरीर के बाईं ओर तेज़ दर्द होने लगा। शुरू में, हमें और डॉक्टरों को लगा कि यह शायद किडनी की पथरी हो सकती है। हमने कई बार अल्ट्रासाउंड करवाए, डॉक्टरों से सलाह ली और कई तरह की मेडिकल जाँचें करवाईं। पूरे अप्रैल महीने में, हम कई डॉक्टरों से मिले, और उनमें से ज़्यादातर ने उनकी बीमारी को 'यूटराइन फ़ाइब्रॉइड्स' (गर्भाशय की गाँठें) बताया और 'लैप्रोस्कोपिक' सर्जरी करवाने की सलाह दी।

उन डॉक्टरों की सलाह के आधार पर, हमने 20 मई को मेरठ के एक अस्पताल में सर्जरी का समय तय कर लिया। लेकिन, सर्जरी से ठीक पहले, सर्जन ने उनकी खून की रिपोर्टों की बहुत बारीकी से जाँच की और उन्हें कुछ ऐसे आँकड़े दिखे जो उन्हें संदिग्ध लगे। उन्होंने एक और अल्ट्रासाउंड करवाने को कहा, जिसमें 'यूटराइन फ़ाइब्रॉइड्स' के बजाय 'ओवेरियन मासेस' (अंडाशय में गाँठें) होने का पता चला। अचानक, उनकी बीमारी के बारे में हम जो कुछ भी जानते थे, वह सब कुछ बदल गया।

हम पूरी तरह से उलझन में थे और समझ नहीं पा रहे थे कि क्या करें। जहाँ कुछ डॉक्टर अभी भी 'लैप्रोस्कोपी' करवाने की ही सलाह दे रहे थे, वहीं हमें कुछ ठीक नहीं लग रहा था, इसलिए हमने किसी और डॉक्टर से भी सलाह लेने का फ़ैसला किया। हमने एक 'ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट' (कैंसर विशेषज्ञ) से सलाह ली, जिन्होंने 'PET-CT स्कैन' करवाने की सलाह दी। इस दौरान, लगातार दर्द, बार-बार होने वाली जाँचों और मानसिक तनाव की वजह से मेरी माँ की सेहत लगातार बिगड़ती चली गई।

जब हमारे पास 'PET-CT स्कैन' की रिपोर्ट आई, तो हम पूरी तरह से टूट चुके थे। एक विशेषज्ञ ने हमें बताया कि कैंसर शरीर में बहुत ज़्यादा फैल चुका है और उन्होंने तुरंत 'बायोप्सी' और 'कीमोथेरेपी' करवाने की सलाह दी। हमारा पूरा परिवार सदमे में था, डरा हुआ था, और किसी को समझ नहीं आ रहा था कि ज़िंदगी को पूरी तरह से बदल देने वाली इस ख़बर का सामना कैसे किया जाए। वे हमारी ज़िंदगी के सबसे मुश्किल दिनों में से कुछ दिन थे।
