My son, Niwant Dilip Rathod, is just 15 years old and has already spent more time in hospitals than any child ever should. He was diagnosed with a high-risk blood cancer called AML. When the treatment started, chemotherapy showed positive results, and we finally felt some relief, believing our son would slowly return to a normal life. But our happiness did not last long.

The cancer relapsed, and since then, his condition has become very difficult. His immunity has become extremely weak, and he keeps suffering from infections, severe weakness, low blood counts, anaemia, and constant exhaustion. There are days when he does not even have the strength to sit properly or talk much. Even after going through all this, he still completed his board exams. As a father, I cannot explain the pain of watching my child fight this battle while trying to hold on to his dreams at the same time.

We belong to a humble farming family, and everything we have is slowly getting exhausted in this fight to save him. Our days now revolve around hospital visits, blood tests, medicines, and trying to protect him from infections because even a small illness can become dangerous for him now. Doctors have urgently advised a Bone Marrow Transplant as his best chance for survival, and they have warned us that delaying it further is very risky. Before the transplant, too, he needs continuous treatment and monitoring.

In the middle of all this pain, Niwant still talks about becoming a doctor someday. During his hospital stay, seeing doctors save lives inspired him deeply. He says he wants to recover and help other patients the same way. As his father, I am only trying to hold my family together and somehow give my son the chance to live the future he dreams about.
