My husband Bhargav worked hard every day to give us a stable life. As a system engineer, he was always dedicated and responsible. We never imagined that one day, he would be fighting just to stay alive.
In 2018, our lives changed when he was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis), a severe kidney disease. This stops the kidneys from filtering blood properly, causing protein to leak into urine and swelling in the body.
After years of struggle, medications, and hospital visits, we finally gathered the strength and resources for a kidney transplant last September. We believed the worst was behind us… that life would slowly return to normal.
But today, we are back in the hospital corridors.
His transplanted kidney is not functioning well. His creatinine levels are rising, his blood pressure is dangerously high, and his urine output is dropping. Watching him go through this again feels like our nightmare never ended.
Doctors have advised Belatacept—an essential medication that can prevent his body from rejecting the transplanted kidney. We have somehow managed this far, with help from insurance, relatives, and savings but now, we have reached a point where we simply cannot afford the next doses.
I had to leave my job to care for him full-time. Right now, only his brother is earning. Every day is a battle between hope and helplessness.
Bhargav just wants to get back to the life he once knew and loved… to work again, meet his friends, and live without pain. And I just want my husband to live.
