It started when I was 16. The doctors said it was Type 1 Diabetes. At that age, I didn’t fully understand what it meant, but I had to keep fighting. While my friends worried about exams and dreams, I learned how to survive with insulin, hospital visits, and constant fear of what the future might hold.
Years passed, I worked, took responsibility, and tried to live a normal life despite the disease slowly attacking my body. My name is Darshit Shah. Today, I am reaching out to you from a hospital bed. After nearly two decades, my condition has now worsened, affecting my kidney function. Today, at 35, I am battling End-Stage Renal Failure.
For the past few years, dialysis has kept me going. Three times a week, I spend hours connected to a machine that does the work my body can no longer do.
Recently, my life changed most beautifully. I have been blessed with a child who is now 14 months old. The first time I held him, I felt something stronger than pain or fear: hope. Now, when I look at his tiny fingers holding mine, I know I want to fight this battle for him. I want to be the father he deserves.
But dialysis is no longer enough. The doctors have made it clear: a Simultaneous Kidney and Pancreas Transplant is my only chance at recovery. The total cost, including surgery, ICU care, and lifelong medicines, costs many Lakhs. We have already spent a lot on my treatment so far. As the sole earning member, I am struggling to manage the rising medical bills on my own.
I want to recover, and for that I need your help. I want the chance to work again, to stand on my own feet, to watch my child take his first steps, say his first words, and grow up knowing his father fought with everything he had.
