There is nothing more painful than seeing your child fight for each breath. My son, Ayansh is barely 7. He should be running around, learning new things, playing with his friends, spending precious time with his grandparents but….
A viral fever and shortness of breath changed everything on the 27th of January 2026. My son now lies in the ICU, his tiny body connected to machines. The doctors diagnosed him with severe pneumonia. Ayansh’s lungs are failing.
This is a battle no child should ever have to face. I cannot help but worry about my son’s life and his future. Seeing my little boy on ECMO breaks me every second. Ayansh is a brave child. Even now, I watch him undergo chest X-rays and CT scans for his lung condition. Tubes, wires, machines around him. My wife and I cry silently beside his bed, praying for a miracle.
The doctors at Manipal EM By Pass, Kolkata, told us Ayansh needs prolonged hospitalisation in critical care, liquid feeding, ECMO support, ventilator care, continuous monitoring, antibiotic treatment and supportive care.
I will never forget the time he came running and said to me, “Papa, when I grow up, I will join the Indian Army.” Talking about his dream lit up his big, twinkling eyes. As his father, my only wish is to see him grow up at all. But the spark in his eyes has dimmed as he looks at me from the ICU bed where he remains under continuous observation.

I am the only earning member of our family, working as a medical representative. For my son’s treatment, we have already spent over ₹20 lakhs, exhausting savings, taking loans, seeking help from relatives but Ayansh’s treatment is far from over.
