“I woke up in the middle of the night to watch my 1.5 year old son shake violently. The fit lasted for an hour until we took him to the hospital where he was given 5 injections back to back.
Ismail Shaikh can never forget the night that changed his life. From that night in March to now, he has lost everything in a bid to save his son.
“The medicines itself have cost me Rs. 11 lakh in the last 3 months.”
Ismail Shaikh makes a living as a driver. The monthly Rs.12,000 that he makes goes towards taking care of his wife, his two infant babies, and a little is saved for his sister’s marriage expenses.
In the last 3 months all of Ismail’s income has been wiped out by hospital bills. What he had managed to save for his sister’s wedding has been used up too and he has been approaching banks and informal money lenders and loaned around 5 lakh.
Baby Anas was suffering from a blockage in his brain which was giving him fits and obstructing his breathing. His life was in danger. The first operation had to be stopped midway as little Anas was bleeding profusely.
“He bled constantly for 20 - 25 days and the fits weren’t stopping too. His body had lost colour and he has been breathing with the help of a ventilator for over 3 months now.”
The blockage in his brain can be treated only with the help of continued treatment. But the expenses are now too high for Ismail to manage.
“So far I have done whatever I could to gather the funds. But now, I have no means left. I am in too much debt already to get another loan.”
In this scenario, your generosity is the only hope for him. Please contribute whatever you can to help Ismail save his son. You can also help him by sharing his fundraiser with your friends and family over whatsapp and Facebook.
