When my wife and I welcomed Akaal into this world, we dreamed of sleepless nights filled with feeding, cuddles, and laughter. We never imagined those sleepless nights would instead be spent watching his oxygen levels and praying that he could breathe comfortably through the next hour.
Our little boy was diagnosed with Ciliary Dyskinesia, a condition that affects his lungs and makes it difficult for his body to clear airway secretions. Since then, every day has revolved around oxygen support, nebulization, physiotherapy, suction procedures, and medications.
Today, our home has been set up as an ICU for Akaal. Instead of toys and laughter, there are oxygen cylinders, medical equipment, and constant worry. My wife and I take turns caring for Akaal around the clock because his condition requires continuous monitoring.
I work in the corporate sector and am the only earning member of our family. We also have a 3-year-old daughter who doesn't fully understand why her baby brother is always connected to machines. She only knows that she wants him to come home healthy and play with her one day.
To keep Akaal's treatment going, we have exhausted our savings and even sold our gold. So far, we have spent nearly ₹12 lakhs on his care. But the medical expenses continue to grow, and we are struggling to keep up.
As parents, we dream of seeing Akaal breathe without oxygen support. We dream of seeing him crawl, walk, laugh, and grow up healthy. Most of all, we dream of watching him live the childhood every baby deserves.
