Young Pragati, with dreams in her eyes, skill in her fingers and a razor-sharp mind has been winning accolades for India in archery. She has inspired many youngsters like her to follow their dreams. Today, when life has served her a curveball, Pragati is trying to rise above the troubles- but she needs you to survive the health scare.
5th of May, 2020 began just like any other day for Pragati. A Khelo India scholar, Pragati follows a training regimen to hone on her skills. The young teen began her day just as she usually did. But unlike every other day, Pragati fainted and was rushed to Max Hospital in Vaishali. The doctors checked on the young girl and deduced she had suffered a brain stroke.
Pragati was advised to get an immediate brain surgery costing at least Rs 15 lakh. The cost of the treatment is believed to go up to Rs 25 lakh. Although an immediate surgery was conducted, the treatment cost has become a concern for Atul Kumar Choudhary, her father. Mr Choudhary has sublet his shop and earns a rent of Rs 2.5 lakh annually, that is about Rs 20,000 monthly.
With so little money, getting Pragati the treatment she needs to overcome brain stroke, is a challenge for her father, Mr Choudhary. He has already asked for help from friends and family, even from the sports ministry. Sadly, with COVID-19 around, managing the expenses has become a problem.
Pragati has won gold medals for India, recently, in an international archery competition held in Dhaka. The young girl has dreams and has talent. All she and her family doesn’t have is the right amount of funds (Rs 25 lakh) to get her the required treatment.
