Hiranya Suryakant Shinde is a 14-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with neuromuscular scoliosis along with SMA Type 2. The family first understood her condition in April 2025, when her spinal curvature began affecting her daily life. Hiranya is also managing diabetes and is currently unable to walk, which has made her dependent on her family for most basic needs. At present, she stays at home and continues her studies in the 9th standard with determination.
Two years ago, Hiranya had already undergone surgery related to her ovaries. Despite facing repeated medical challenges at such a young age, she remains a child who loves drawing and enjoys spending time with her friends whenever possible. These small joys give her strength, even as her physical condition continues to progress.
Doctors have advised scoliosis correction as the next essential step in her treatment. Without timely care, her condition may continue to worsen and affect her comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life. The treatment is important to help her sit, breathe, and live with dignity.
Hiranya’s family has been carrying an emotional and financial burden for many years. Her father passed away thirteen years ago after losing his job, leaving the family suddenly without its main support. Since then, her mother has been managing the household responsibilities alone. She worked in marketing earlier but has not been able to work for the past year because Hiranya needs constant care at home. Her elder brother, now 20 years old and studying in the 12th standard, went through years of emotional distress after losing his father, but is slowly finding stability again.
To manage medical expenses so far, the family has used personal savings, borrowed from friends and relatives, and even sold gold and land. Though their resources are exhausted, their hope has not faded. Pain is visible in their eyes, yet they carry gentle smiles and continue to move forward together. Your help can allow a mother to work without fear, a brother to focus on his future, and a young girl to receive the care she needs to study and grow.
