“When Ayesha’s fever didn’t subside even after 2 weeks, we took her to the doctor. The doctor gave her medicines, but it didn’t seem to improve her health. Scared, we took her to Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, where the doctors ran some tests on her. On december 25th 2018, our 8-year-old Ayesha was diagnosed with blood cancer!” - Ashpak Ahmed, Ayesha’s father
“My only daughter has been in the hospital for six months now. She has seen patients wailing in pain or die because they couldn’t get treated in a timely manner. She is scared of dying. I just pray that lack of funds doesn’t come in the way of my girl’s treatment.” - Ashpak Ahmed, Ayesha’s father
Ashpak had to struggle through life ever since he was afflicted with polio. He kept on trying to get employed, but no one wanted to employ him because he was handicapped. Even then, he always made sure that he fulfilled his daughter’s every wish because she was the one bright spot in his otherwise troublesome life.
Inability to pay the medical bills
Ashpak runs his house on the Rs. 400 which the government pays him every month. Everyone else seems to have turned a deaf ear to him and his problems. He managed to beg and borrow from his family and neighbors, and was able to collect Rs. 2 Lakh. However, this sum was soon spent on Ayesha’s hospital bills.
“Ayesha urgently needs chemotherapy sessions and bone marrow transplant which will cost us another Rs. 10 lakh. We are doing everything we can to save her, but nothing seems to be enough. We don’t want to regret not being able to save her due to lack of money.” - Ayesha’s mother
How you can help
We miss seeing our jovial and naughty Ayesha. Now all we see is her lying on the bed with hopeful eyes, almost as if she is saying “Take me home!”. Please donate generously and help us save our little girl and give her the life she deserves! You can also support by sharing our fundraiser on Facebook and WhatsApp.
I, Ashpaq Ahmed, take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have showered on my daughter, Ayesha.
She is a brave 8-year-old who has been battling Leukemia (Blood Cancer) for the past 6 months.
I have spent all my savings to pay for her treatment so far. After suffering from polio a couple of years ago, I live on a government pension of Rs 400 a month. I walked to every house in my neighbourhood to collect money for Ayesha’s initial treatment. Rs 2 Lakh was all I could arrange for her chemotherapy. Now the doctors say my child will live only if she gets a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Ayesha is admitted in the Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. In the time she has spent in the hospital, she has seen many patients scream in pain bearing the side-effects of chemo. Ayesha, silently bears the treatment, but I can see the pain in her eyes.
My girl constantly tells us she is scared of dying. As her fearful eyes beg for help, I hate to stand in front of her with no money to spare.
I love my daughter too much and cannot afford to lose her. Your commitment to donate will save my child’s life. Do keep praying for Ayesha’s quick recovery.
