All his life, my father Kalluri Kamalkar, worked honestly as a private accountant and spent every day caring for our family. He always made sure we lived with dignity and love.
Today, the same man who once stood strong for all of us is lying helpless in the ICU, struggling for every breath.
It started with fever and weakness that lasted for a week. We thought he would recover with medicines and rest. But suddenly, his breathing became worse. He became weak, drowsy, and unable to even sit comfortably. When we rushed him to the hospital, his oxygen levels had dropped dangerously low.
Doctors told us his condition was critical.
My 70-year-old father is now battling severe respiratory failure, sepsis with septic shock, Acute Kidney Injury, and serious lung complications. He is on BiPAP ventilation, oxygen support, IV antibiotics, steroids, and constant ICU monitoring just to stay alive.
Seeing him connected to machines is heartbreaking. Every time he struggles to breathe, we feel completely helpless.
We are three daughters trying our best to save our father. My elder sister is a teacher, and another works as a computer operator. We have already borrowed money from friends and relatives because we could not bear to stop his treatment.
But the expenses are increasing every single day, and we have no land, no jewellery, and no savings left. My father spent his entire life protecting us. Today, we are desperately trying to protect him.
