"Give me one hundred ‘believing’ young men.. I will transform India.." This was said by Swami Vivekananda over a century ago. 150 years later, the need is more urgent than ever before. India needs an institution that can create the leaders, Swami Vivekananda would be proud of.
Can the leadership of India be left to chance? No, it cannot. We cannot afford to do so anymore. We have a unique opportunity to act and bring a change. The time is now!
India lacks an institution, which is focussed on generating public leadership that is rooted in the Indian ideas and solves the global problems of today and the future. Rashtram School of Public Leadership aims to do that.
Corruption, pollution, climate change, over-population, agricultural distress, malnutrition - these are just a few of the major problems facing India. A systemic perspective of these issues will make us realise that these issues are just a subset of a larger concern - there is a leadership crisis in India - a lack of coherence amongst public leadership in all domains: political leadership, social leadership, and academic leadership.
As India enters into a new decade, there is a need for an ecosystem of committed leaders in the country. We have multiple educational institutes that are focussed on nurturing talent for various sectors, but none for holistic public leadership. India lacks an institution, which is solely focussed on generating public leadership that is well-versed in the Indian context.
The absence of such an institution has led to uncertainty around the competency of our future leaders. This uncertainty along with the global shifts in our unpredictable world are outpacing current education frameworks. We need leaders born out of purpose and devotion to the betterment of people's lives; leaders who have the ability to connect to the nation’s ideas.
Rashtram aims to produce 'purposive,' 'civilisationally assured,' and 'self aware' leaders who take up positions of impact, in our politics (politicians, political consultants, campaign managers), civil society (running/joining NGOs, community leadership, CSR), and academia (professors, researchers, thinkers, opinion makers/media) to turn the tide against the problems facing this country.
Rashtram offers an eleven-month residential Accelerator Programme (Post Graduate Diploma) to committed and dedicated change makers, who have already shown an inclination for serving India. Rashtram offers a unique curriculum which helps Learners hone their meta skills - mental models to learn, and focuses on both - research and fieldwork. Rashtram Learners will be grounded in the ethos of the Indian Civilisation to tackle problems facing India.

Director, stresses on the need for Rashtram - “We started VIF five years ago and have made a substantial contribution in the lives of many young change-makers who aspire to lead India. However, it wasn’t enough. We need a full-time commitment in creating leaders, generation after generation, as the leadership of India cannot be left to chance.”
