Story

This year, Eyebetes Foundation  in support of Bhajandas Bajaj Foundation is planning its largest initiative during the Ganpati festival on 25 August 2017 for 10 days at the entrance of the iconic temple of Mumbai; Shree Siddhi Vinayak, Prabhadevi - which sees an average of 10,000 to 15,000 pilgrims each day.

India is fast becoming the ‘Diabetes Capital of the World’. It is estimated that in the next few decades we will have more than 100 million diabetics in India. Soon one in every fifth diabetic will be in India. We all know at least one person who is suffering from diabetes and in spite of its commonness, our knowledge of the disease is minimal.

Few Unknown Facts about Diabetes:

1.It is a chronic disease with no cure

2.It affects ALL parts of the body, major as well as minor ones.

3.Diabetes acutely affects eye no matter how controlled the disease is.

4.Diabetes is one of the commonest causes of blindness in the world.

The strong connection between eye care and diabetes is often ignored. In developed countries like US and UK, diabetes patients are automatically enrolled in the Diabetes Eye Program, where their vision and eyes are examined for changes of diabetes on an annual basis. The lack of any such program in India leads to loss of vision, sometimes even in young ones and most prominently in the age group between 40-60.

Eyebetes: Because Diabetes Blinds

Dr. Nishant Kumar, an Ophthalmologist, Vitreo Retinal Surgeon and Uveitis Specialist,  who understood the severity of problem, started a Diabetes and blindness awareness and screening initiative called ‘Eyebetes’ with the intention to create a strong, inseparable link between diabetes and eyes for everyone and make every diabetic patient understand that blindness due to Diabetes is preventable.

Eyebetes and Its Mission

Eyebetes Foundation is a charitable foundation with sole aim of raising awareness regarding Diabetes and Blindness and performing free diabetes and eye screening for as many people as possible.

Eyebetes Has Set a Record!
