None of us imagined that instead of preparing for interviews, my cousin would be fighting for his next breath. Vishal was diagnosed with severe bilateral organising pneumonia. The infection spread through both lungs, damaging all six lobes. Despite every treatment doctors could offer, his lungs have completely failed.
Now, Vishal is alive only because of the ECMO machine that is breathing for him.
Doctors at Metro Heart Institute have told us that an urgent lung transplant is now his only chance of survival. But every passing day on ECMO increases the risk of complications, including damage to his kidneys, brain, and other vital organs.

Vishal’s father has sold the family's gold and spent more than ₹22 lakh trying to save his son. Relatives, friends, and kind-hearted people have stood by us, but the road ahead is far beyond what we can manage alone.
Vishal is responding to treatment, and that gives us hope. A lung transplant could give him more than a second chance at life, it could give him the chance to chase the dreams that severe pneumonia took away. I don't want my cousin's dreams to end before they even begin.
