Story

Assam is one of the richest biodiversity zones in the world and consists of tropical rainforests, deciduous forests, riverine grasslands, bamboo orchards and numerous wetland ecosystems. Many are now protected as national parks and reserved forests. Due to the

ongoing four laning process of the NH 37 a 670 km stretch of the East-West Corridor,1.36 lakhs trees got chopped . The Assam State Forest department is the agency entrusted with the task of cutting down the trees, after paying the necessary compensation funded by NHAI. The loss of 1.36 lakh trees will have a negative impact on the biodiversity of the state , making a  great imbalance in the ecosystem. The government is trying to compensate for the loss , but no such progress is seen yet.

Plant for Assam will be an environmental campaign , in which approx. 30,000 saplings will be planted in various public places or institutions like schools, colleges , universities , hospitals , National parks, biosphere reserve etc. across the state. The primary goal of the campaign is to compensate for the biodiversity loss during the four-laning process. It is not possible to cover all the loss in an instant,

however each and every efforts should be made to compensate for the same. Even a litlle contribution today will have great results in future to strengthen our ecosystem.

I realised the need and decided to volunteering for the cause. This is the primary reason I am trying to raise funds through this campaign. The plantation campaign will be starting from  1st Aug, 2017 till 30th, Aug 2017. Please extent your contribution to compensate for the 1.36 lakh chopped trees.
