Latest Update

Dear Donors,

There have been few uplifting moments these past few weeks, but when our first procurement of oxygen concentrators arrived in India on April 28, the 13-member Swasth Alliance team and our band of 130 volunteers felt a small glimmer of hope.

Oxygen is India’s most important crisis point right now. And the need is urgent. Our live demand dashboard

suggests that there’s a need for at least 360,000 oxygen concentrators across the country. We have watched this number increase each day.

How are we trying to meet this need? We have, so far, procured 32,707 oxygen concentrators. It has been a mammoth effort to get here, but it’s only the first step of a long journey. Once procured, concentrators must reach the country, and then be transported to and installed in their target destinations. 4,137 of the procured concentrators have now arrived in India, and 2,764 have already been deployed. Covid patients in 84 locations across 10 states are now one step closer to recovery.

An additional 1,373 concentrators are in transit, and we expect these to be deployed by May 10. You can follow their journey in our live deployment dashboard

Funds from donors across the country, and across the world, have helped us get here, and we are humbled by the support received. Let's continue to work together to minimize the harm caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in India, equitably and transparently.

Story

India is currently fighting the world’s worst second wave of COVID-19 with record breaking daily cases.

Hospitals and healthcare providers are running out of resources in their fight against the pandemic and the situation on the ground is dire. Oxygen is critically needed by hospitals to treat patients.

Swasth Alliance and ACT grants are looking to procure 50,000 Oxygen Concentrators (OCs) and other medical supplies to aid the fight against COVID-19.

How can you help?

We are raising funds through crowd-funding, CSR grants and more. please contribute and spread the word!

What are costs for procurement of these devices?

The procured OCs shall be a mix of high-flow and low-flow devices. Each high flow oxygen concentrator costs Rs. 60,000 (USD 800) and each low flow concentrator costs Rs 45,000 (USD 600). The rates of procurement are basis bulk orders placed with our suppliers.

Where and how are the OCs being deployed?

These oxygen concentrators will be channeled to hospitals across levels of care that will support the response against COVID-19 as well as strengthen the health system in the longer term.

The process of distribution of concentrators is based on 3 key principles, namely:

i) Equitable distribution - Ensuring the areas and institutions in most need receive them

ii) Transparency - All details on demand and deployment shall be published on the website. These dashboards can be accessed at: https://www.swasth.app/oxygenforindia

iii) Impact: Distribution to be made as rapidly as possible to save the maximum lives. The assessment of impact shall also be undertaken on a monthly basis.

Hi all, We have some good news to share - our first deployment of Oxygen concentrators has landed in Delhi and is being deployed across the country. We are all tired, very relieved, and looking forward to many more. Also, we have collated more than 180,000 requests for OCs on our demand dashboard that is updated live here: https://charts.mongodb.com/charts-swasth-deman-data-aobsf/public/dashboards/608a951e-5a65-4419-843d-d193674b3673

Thank you so much for your support in making this happen and we can't wait to share more with you.

Dear all,

We are extremely grateful for your support in these trying times. As the funding has come in, we have been working with suppliers to continuously place orders and ensure we are able to respond in a timely manner.

Swasth Alliance & ACT, thanks to several partners, donors and your generous contributions, have been able to place orders for 20,000 concentrators. The first batch of 5,000 concentrators will start being distributed from tomorrow and we hope to update you soon on the on-ground impact.

Given the number of amazing people who want to contribute towards this mission, we are increasing our target to 40,000 concentrators. We hope to make a difference. Thank you for being part of this.
