Help us get an intensive care brooder for orphan baby birds - story -6

WE SUCCESSFULLY HATCHED A KOEL BABY!

Yes, this Asian koel hatched out this morning in our incubator. We had received an injured female koel a few weeks ago and she laid an egg inside her recovery cage. We carefully placed the egg in our incubator (BIG CHEERS TO ALL DONORS WHO HELPED US WITH PURCHASING THE INCUBATOR!) and kept our fingers crossed. This precious little soul will now be given special care including the right environment. We have started this fundraiser to purchase an intensive care brooder for babies just like this one.

PLEASE DONATE TO THIS FUNDRAISER AND HELP US SAVE BABIES LIKE THIS ONE

Story

Hi, my name is Soham Mukherjee, and I am raising funds for purchasing an intensive care brooder to help raise over 500 orphan baby birds that we receive at our wildlife rescue center every season.

We, at Jivdaya Charitable Trust (Ahmedabad), are full-time engaged in wildlife rehabilitation activities.  Every year thousands of birds are injured, displaced, orphaned, and suffer illness due to human-caused threats. We rescue, treat, and rehabilitate birds of over 100 species including critically endangered vultures. People destroy their habitats, cut trees when they are nesting, disturb their nests, reduce their food sources, etc. and these babies fall down starved and dehydrated. We receive over 500 orphan baby birds each season that require special care with regards to warmth and humidity. An initial period of warmth, and quiet is critical to allow a baby bird to acclimatize to its new surroundings. One can set required temperature and humidity in the brooder’s quiet chamber. It is very important to establish normal body temperature and a brooder does that very effectively. Our hand-raising success has increased many folds by use of a brooder, however many baby birds suffer as a single brooder cannot accommodate more birds. We need one more to save the little angels.

Please help us get this additional intensive care brooder, and save these orphan babies that are otherwise dying due to human-caused unnatural factors. Each such baby is released back in nature when it grows up, ensuring conservation of species. Thank you for your kindness in helping save the environment!
