Incessant monsoon rains have caused flooding in seven districts of Assam, namely Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Golaghat, Cachar, Dhemaji, Biswanath and Karimganj.

Two teams from Oxfam India have reached the worst hit districts—Lakhimpur and Karimgunjfor a rapid assessment of the situation through consultations with the government officials, partners and community members.

We target to respond to 4500 households in the two target districts through distribution ofcontingency kits in collaboration with Sphere India, state and district administrations and other partner organisations.

It is also important to underline that without augmenting people's ability to exercise them, the rights would be meaningless.
