Story

Our Belief

We BELIEVE childhood is a time to play
We BELIEVE education should be fun and not a drudgery
We BELIEVE every child has a right to excellent education and money should not be the deciding factor
And the JEEVAN ASHA DAY CARE CENTRE has been doing this since 2000

Stories of Kids:

Shabina is a mute and deaf, slum-dwelling domestic help with three children to raise. After a hard day’s work, she comes home to an excited Sanya (eldest daughter) who teaches her the alphabet. Sanya has been attending Jeevan Asha’s DCC since the past two years, and has been teaching lessons and basic hygiene instructions learnt here to all the members of their house.

Harishchandra has never been to school and works as a helper in a factory at Thane. He doesn’t want his son, Tejas, to suffer the same fate. Tejas’ mother found it difficult to send him to school until her neighbor spoke to her about Jeevan Asha. Initially low in confidence, Tejas has transitioned from being reticent to a participative and vocal child. His parents are very  grateful for the love and care given to him at the DCC

Riya V. is a visually impaired child. She can only see with one eye. To add to it when we visited her home we found she has been rejected by her mother too who keeps saying how useless she is. Her teacher’s love, patience and attention has paid off. Today Riya is a confident child, doing well in school and is happy to come to school. She takes part in all the activities and it hardly seems that the visual impairment has been any hindrance to her

What we do?

Jeevan Asha brings in children between 3-6 yrs and in an environment of love and attention, through fun and creativity, inculcates in the children a zeal for education, and teaches them values that will impact humanity. We at JeevanAsha believe that “Every Life Is Worth Living”. From past 18 years, we have been quietly working towards spreading that belief. We have rekindled the flame of “hope” in more than 2000 children by working on their nutrition and education at the nascent age of 3.5 to 8 years. We refuse to let the society fail them. We refuse to hang them out to dry just because some of us were lucky. JeevanAsha has established a Day Care Centre (DCC) near Koknipada in Thane, where children who live in slums and poor neighbourhoods are provided with proper nutrition and education while their mothers are working as maids in houses or their fathers are earning their daily wage. A well worked, and thorough syllabus that includes English Language, Basic Arithmetic, Reading-Writing and Art & Craft is being taught in a fun and creative way. We aim at instilling necessary skills and confidence in the children to help them integrate with mainstream educational institutions.

Change with Moving times

Digital Revolution is here to stay and Jeevan Asha recognizes that. To empower and ensure that the underprivileged kids are not left behind in this, Jeevan Asha now aspires to tap into the unrestrained digital resources of learning. The WEETablet is a device designed specifically to infuse fun in learning and engage the children in a proactive manner. The idea behind WEETablet is that it prompts the kid to act and interact. In addition to the conventional methods of learning by listening and seeing, kids can now use the WEETablet to engage in a method that encourages learning by doing thus enhancing the memory span of concepts learnt. We have evaluated this powerful and amazing learning tool and concluded that this is  designed for preschoolers to stimulate their impressionable minds and promote constructive thinking. Jeevan Asha aims to buy these Tabs for our kids. This project is also supported by Mytree Foundation.

Our goal to realise the dreams for our kids

Rs. 2,75,000/- the target amount we are aiming at will be sufficient to buy enough Wee tablets for 80+ kids. Cost includes entire project in scope. This is sufficient to begin with and rotate between the classes. We appeal to you to help us further this cause, increase our scope and make a bigger difference. Your donation will have a massive impact on our work and will add great value to our community; we are grateful for your participation

Why should I donate?

Other than the obvious cause of making some lives better or helping some children gain confidence and ability at an early stage, the most important reason is fulfilling your own wish. You are probably just 3 minutes and 5 odd clicks away from doing “something” you always wanted to do but could never find time for it. That “something” is “Making a Difference”. TinyTapps and JeevanAsha are probably the elements, but your donations are the catalysts that can create something new, something big. Help a kid, if not with time then why not with some resources. A tiny portion of your time and a tiny portion of your money could mean a great deal for some small kids. A tiny pebble can create huge ripples. In all probability, your contributions can start someone’s journey from “Below Poverty Line” to the Forbes list. It is up to you to make a difference! Donate now. Thank you.
