PROBLEM

Children constitute over one-third of India’s population of 1.21 billion people, i.e. every sixth child in the world lives in India. Of these 400 million children do not have access to clean drinking water, homes, and a proper education. India has 10.12 million child labourers aged between 5 to 14 years (National Census 2011).

SOLUTION

NGO with its various advocacy, child sponsorship and relief programs has changed many lives in India. Its child sponsorship program creates a network of partners, who in the long-term help build a self-reliant and sustainable community that brings out the best in every child. NGO has also initiated programmes that strategically address HIV prevention among children between 10 to 18 years, care and support for orphans and vulnerable children and women who are made destitute by HIV and AIDS, as well as prevention programs among vulnerable groups such as injecting drug users and sex workers.

NGO is on the ground responding to the massive floods in Chennai. As part of emergency relief response, we distributed 12000 food packets, over 22000 water bottles as well as biscuit packets . Dry ration was also provided to 50 families.

In addition to this, 3 child friendly spaces have been set up in Saidapet and North Chennai. The spaces are primarily to ensure that children recover from any trauma. It gives them a chance to play and have fun with other children.
