Hi, I am Tanishka.
My husband and I were blessed with a baby boy and girl (twins) on August 7th 2025. But, is there anything more heartbreaking than a mother unable to hold the babies she gave life to or a father who has only seen his children through a glass window?
Both my babies were born extremely premature at just 25 weeks of pregnancy. My baby boy weighed 728 grams, and my baby girl 778 grams at birth. Since then, they have been bravely fighting for survival.
They are admitted to the NICU at Cuddles N Cure Children’s Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai, where doctors are doing everything possible. But every day brings new challenges:
- Respiratory Support: Both babies are on mechanical ventilation and oxygen to help them breathe.
- Hematologic Status (Baby Girl): Her haemoglobin dropped to 7.7 g/dL, and she is currently receiving a blood transfusion.
- Nutritional Support: Doctors are giving special care and interventions to help both babies gain weight.
- Ophthalmic Evaluation: Retinal screening for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is still pending for both.
Doctors say they will need to stay in the NICU for 8–10 weeks. The estimated cost of treatment for both babies is around ₹8–10 lakhs each.

They have been fighting for their lives since the moment they entered this world. And all I can do is stand 10 feet away, outside the NICU door, watching them struggle to survive.
