The last thing I remember before the diagnosis…was solving a UPSC question on Indian Polity.
I had highlighted a line and told my mother,
“Bas Mummy, next attempt pakka clear karungi.”

She smiled and said,
“Tu collector banegi, Tuhina. I know it.”
I believed her.
Until the pain in my legs started.
At first, I ignored it. Long study hours. Stress. Maybe weakness. But the pain kept getting worse. By June 2025, my life changed forever.

Doctors said the words I had only read about in newspapers:
Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.
Cancer.
I am 31 years old.
Instead of revising current affairs, I began learning medical terms. Instead of mock tests, I faced chemotherapy sessions. Three standard cycles. Two high-dose chemotherapies.
I watched my hair fall. I watched my strength disappear. I watched my father try to be strong in front of me.
My father is 66 years old. A retired government teacher. He gets a pension of ₹40,000. That pension was meant for his peaceful retirement.
Now it pays my hospital bills.
One evening, I heard him whisper to my mother in the corridor,
“Jo bhi karna pade, karenge. Main apni beti ko haarne nahi doonga.”
(Whatever it takes, we will do it. I won’t let my daughter lose.)

My mother sits beside my hospital bed every day. She holds my hand during immunotherapy and says softly,
“Tu hamesha strong rahi hai. Yeh bhi jeet legi.”
(You have always been strong. You will win this too.)
I try to smile for them.
But this cancer came back. Relapsed. Stronger. More aggressive.
Right now, I am admitted in the ward, undergoing immunotherapy. Doctors say I urgently need continued immunotherapy and CAR-T Cell therapy — a treatment that can give me a real chance at life.
A chance to sit for UPSC again.
A chance to make my parents proud.
A chance to live.

The cost of CAR-T therapy is far beyond what my father’s pension can handle. My younger sister is just 23, still pursuing her MSc. Instead of building her future, she watches mine hang in uncertainty.
Sometimes at night, when everyone is asleep, I ask myself — Will I get another attempt at my dreams?
I don’t want to be remembered as the girl who “was preparing for UPSC.”
I want to be the daughter who fought cancer and won.
Please help me continue my treatment. Help me get the CAR-T therapy I urgently need.
I am not ready to give up.
And my parents are not ready to lose their daughter.
With your support, I can fight this.

You need not wait for donor or have the organ ready. We actually suggest you start a fundraiser as soon as you can so that you are ready with the acquired funds and can get the surgery done immediately when you do receive an organ.
Generally, most campaigners are reminded to leave updates on their fundraiser regarding the progress of their cause, whether it’s a nonprofit project or the health of a patient. You will get an email every time an update is posted. Alternately, you can use the "Contact campaigner" option on the fundraiser page to directly get in touch with the campaigner and understand how your donation benefited them.
Once the requirement of this patient will be met, any remaining funds will ultimately go towards helping other needy patients in line with Impact Guru's mission of helping save as many lives as possible.
For all medical fundraisers, the funds will be directly transferred to the hospital’s account. Only in a few cases, based on Impact Guru’s discretion, the funds might be transferred to the campaigner or the patient’s account for postoperative or at home expenses.
In cases, where the funding requirement of the patient changes due to factors such as death, change of treatment plan on advice of hospital, delay in treatment, medical complications, Impact Guru utilizes the funds to help similar patients with the mission of helping save as many lives as possible.
90%+ of Impact Guru’s campaigns raise funds leveraging our do-it-yourself fundraising platform.
The Accelerate initiative of Impact Guru caters primarily towards those individuals who are unable to create or manage their own fundraiser due to lack of education, access to smartphones, or social networks for fundraising support. Impact Guru provides fundraising support in such cases by maximizing outreach, leveraging all fundraising channels. In order to provide crucial life saving support to such patients, Impact Guru charges marketing cost paid to such third parties and its regular platform and payment gateway fees. Impact Guru's constant endeavour is to reduce such outreach costs to maximize social impact of every contribution.
