Tahiya turned yellow when she was just 2 months old.

Her mother noticed it first, the strange tint across her baby's skin, the way her eyes looked dull instead of bright.

Tahiya was diagnosed with biliary atresia. Their daughter's bile ducts were blocked, her liver slowly failing.

Her father taught primary school while earning a humble monthly income, the words liver transplant landed like a future he couldn’t afford to imagine.

But Tahiya's mother refused to accept it. When the doctors said liver transplant, she said take mine. When they explained the risks, the pain, the recovery, she just repeated: ‘take mine’.

At 8 months old, when most babies are learning to crawl, Tahiya was wheeled into an operating room. Her mother offered a piece of her own liver to save her firstborn. The surgery succeeded. For a brief, beautiful moment, they dared to hope.

The hope lasted exactly one year.

In 2022, complications dragged them back to the operating table. Then, last year (2025), she was diagnosed with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder, a cancer. The very medication keeping Tahiya’s transplanted liver alive had betrayed her, allowing tumours to grow unchecked in her small body.

Now 4, Tahiya has already endured two chemotherapy sessions. Now she needs more chemo at Rela Hospital.

Tahiya's grandfather had stomach cancer, which took him in 2012. Now his granddaughter battles the same illness in a different form.

Tahiya has spent half her life in hospitals. She doesn't remember what it feels like to just... be a child.

Should I wait for an organ donor before starting a fundraiser?

You need not wait for donor or have the organ ready. We actually suggest you start a fundraiser as soon as you can so that you are ready with the acquired funds and can get the surgery done immediately when you do receive an organ.

How can I track the impact of my donation?

Generally, most campaigners are reminded to leave updates on their fundraiser regarding the progress of their cause, whether it’s a nonprofit project or the health of a patient. You will get an email every time an update is posted. Alternately, you can use the "Contact campaigner" option on the fundraiser page to directly get in touch with the campaigner and understand how your donation benefited them.

Once the requirement of this patient will be met, any remaining funds will ultimately go towards helping other needy patients in line with Impact Guru's mission of helping save as many lives as possible.

Whose account will the funds be transferred to?

For all medical fundraisers, the funds will be directly transferred to the hospital’s account. Only in a few cases, based on Impact Guru’s discretion, the funds might be transferred to the campaigner or the patient’s account for postoperative or at home expenses.

In cases, where the funding requirement of the patient changes due to factors such as death, change of treatment plan on advice of hospital, delay in treatment, medical complications, Impact Guru utilizes the funds to help similar patients with the mission of helping save as many lives as possible.

Does Impact Guru help in promoting campaigns?

90%+ of Impact Guru’s campaigns raise funds leveraging our do-it-yourself fundraising platform.

The Accelerate initiative of Impact Guru caters primarily towards those individuals who are unable to create or manage their own fundraiser due to lack of education, access to smartphones, or social networks for fundraising support. Impact Guru provides fundraising support in such cases by maximizing outreach, leveraging all fundraising channels. In order to provide crucial life saving support to such patients, Impact Guru charges marketing cost paid to such third parties and its regular platform and payment gateway fees.
