Our NGO Society for Harmony Aid and Prosperous Economy is based out of Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu and we are committed to impacting and improving lives for 33 years now.
To take our objective a step further, we have begun a crowdfunding campaign to raise 1,00,000 for the Education & Training.
With your funds we will buy necessary equipment (study materials, books, uniforms and other aid) to educate 400 underprivileged (orphaned, children living with HIV, poor and slum dwelling) children for one year.
About our project:
35 million children aged 6-14 in India do not go to school. Millions of children all over the country are denied the right to education because of poverty and deprivation. Unable to afford even basic necessities like food, shelter, clothing and footwear, education quietly takes a backseat and is regarded as a luxury.
This creates a vicious cycle of illiteracy and poverty over generations. As a result, the poor remain poor, destitute and unable to improve their lot.
This is where SHAPE steps in.
Months into a global pandemic, it is clear that society can no longer simply sit idle and wait for it all to end. It is time to be proactive. We at SHAPE in collaboration with SVN, Australia are launching virtual classes for such impoverished children. Our aim is to teach hundreds of non-school going, underprivileged children, virtually, with the help of remote volunteers.
We currently provide 400 underprivileged (orphans, rescued child labourers, terminally ill and slum dwelling) children with free education through 7 literacy centres. Unfortunately, due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this initiative has come to a halt.
However, we at SHAPE believe that pandemic or poverty – nothing should stop a child’s education.
With the help of 7 trainers from all over the world, our goal is to help the children in all aspects from homework assistance to fine arts, along with getting some international exposure as well! Each session will educate not more than 25 children in accordance with the recommended pandemic preventive measures. In addition, all the lessons will be delivered virtually.
The volunteers are ready and so are the children! But we cannot do this alone. Presently, we have only limited equipment enough to run two centres and teach 75 children. This is where we need YOU.
With the help of YOUR support and compassion, we must raise INR 40,000 to help us buy the necessary equipment (4 tablet computers, each priced at INR 10,000), in order to continue with our endeavour by bridging the gap between the volunteers and the children.
Each tablet computer will help teach 70-100 children. This is your chance to do something good.
For every donation you will get an 80G (income tax exemption) certificate.
Please do not wait to make a difference.
Every rupee you donate matters.
Even as little as 50 rupees can change a life.
We thank you for your support in advance!
