All routine activities came to a halt in the 2nd week of March, when owing to a government order, the office as well as the school and all centers across locations were shut down, as a result of the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. This pandemic and ensuing lockdown forced businesses to shut, daily wage workers to lose their jobs, and resulted in already vulnerable sections of society being pushed deeper into crisis and economic uncertainty, with most not even having access to basic grocery and hygiene essentials to get by this pandemic.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, STCI sprang into action, and with the support of corporate grants, institutional donors, individuals and partners, have been engaging in the provision of relief material, across locations in Maharashtra (Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad) and Delhi NCR. Over the last 5 months, through a vast network of volunteers and support staff, we have been able to distribute 24,554 grocery and hygiene kits and 3500 masks to a wide target audience that includes our beneficiaries and their families, other vulnerable families in the communities, as well as administration like police personnel, to whom we distributed 550 PPE kits.
We have also successfully facilitated 444 Direct Cash Transfers, and have provided 50 batteries to children with hearing impairments, for their hearing aids. Realizing the agony of the arduous journey thousands of migrants were making back home, we distributed 6000 snack kits to those boarding long trains back home, and also distributed 1,20,000 water bottles. Since we work with young vulnerable women, we also ensured that women and girls in 29 shelter homes received hygiene items and thermometers.
Through our efforts so far, we have been able to positively impact the lives of 2,55,090 beneficiaries so far, and will continue with our efforts in the days and months to come #2 (15 Jun, 2020)
Supporting the Most Vulnerable during this Pandemic

The Dry Ration Kit is made up of essentials such as Flour, Dal, Pulses, Sugar, Salt, Tea, Condiments and Onions and Potatoes. The Hygiene Kit contains essentials such as detergent, soaps, toothpaste and sanitary pads.
However, as you are aware, the crisis is far from over. More than ever, our communities need us now as people have lost their livelihoods and are being pushed towards poverty and hunger. With your support, we will be able to reach out to more people and provide them with the necessary items for survival in this time of the Pandemic.
Having started with our relief distribution across Maharashtra and New Delhi, we are now in the 4th Phase of distribution, and hope to reach thousands more in the days to come, with essentials required to survive from one day to the next.
With the funds generated from ImpactGuru, and thanks to the countless donors who donated for our cause, we will ensure the delivery of the above mentioned essentials to many more vulnerable communities, across Maharashtra and New Delhi.
Your continued support and love will help bring a smile on the faces of countless vulnerable Indians.

Here’s an update for you on the relief work that has happened till now -
We have reached out to a large number of families in various regions of Mumbai, Pune and New Delhi.
In the 1st phase of relief work, we've already reached out to over 6700 urban families with groceries, hygiene kits and direct bank transfers.
However, we have heard from our partners that in 300 villages in Maharashtra, no relief material has reached so far. With fewer facilities, they're at risk of simply being forgotten by those of us in metro zones.
The way forward..
Phase 2 will reach out to over 5000 families across the rural and urban poor, for groceries and relief material, in the states of Maharashtra and New Delhi.
We will also initiate a community based vigilance system to prevent the spread of the virus through promotion of specific Covid preventive behaviours.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have donated so far, in whatever way they could, helping us reach out to those most in need.
For everyone reading this, we would request each of you to kindly share this with at least 15 people in your circle, so that we can reach out to thousands more in the days to come.
