I met Mr. Vasant Kunjar yesterday and was moved & inspired by his story & dedication to help the orphans and homeless senior citizens. Mr. Vasant started this NGO back in the year 2004 along with a group of like-minded friends.
Mr. Kunjar came to Mumbai from Karnataka on a truck, in 1989. He worked as a waiter and then started selling onions. One day, he happened to witness an unfortunate incident. A young boy was crying over his only parent's dead body, his dad had passed away due to HIV and his relatives refused to do anything with the dead body and the boy. And in that very moment, Mr. Kunjar decided he would work as hard as possible and would do any possible work to take care of everyone who is helpless and homeless.
Mr. Kunjar got support from his family to continue this noble work. His wife even sold her Mangalsutra (yes, it sounds filmy, but TRUE) so that they could pay for these orphans' education. I sincerely appeal to everyone who is reading this to help Mr. Kunjar in this noble cause.
The funds generated will be used as annual rent for the orphanage and Old Age Home. It will in turn, help Mr. Kunjar to provide other necessary facilities such as Education, food, medical attention etc. to the children and senior citizens who he's adopted.
