Pari (Name changed to protect identity) was only 15 when a person known to her family cheated and brought her to Mumbai for Non-existent Job. Her dream of earning and supporting her family back home in Bangladesh were shattered when she got to know that she was sold off to be a “Prostitute”. She resisted hard but it did not sustain long. After all she was a Bangladeshi in foreign land, an illegal immigrant. Amma (brothel Keeper) kept telling her and she too started believing that she was born to do this.
Now for Pari it’s an unfortunate past. She is currently undergoing skills training in garment manufacturing with Save Our Sisters- an Initiative of Save The Children India. She will be sent back to her own country very soon and she wises to make use of every opportunity that she get here.
She is unsure if her family will accept here but she is not concerned about it at this point. She plans to take up a job in garment manufacturing industry in Dhaka and start earning and living on her own.
Every year the center reaches out to over 150 survivors of Sex Trafficking many of them are from Bangladesh. We need support to set up unit that is equipped train them on advance sewing machines that are used in garment manufacturing units. This will make their entry in Garment manufacturing industry in Bangladesh easy.
