Story Documents 3 Updates5

I am Neha. I am 18 years old. I have spent the last six years hiding my face from the world.

When I was 12, I stayed home alone while my parents went to work at a construction site. I tried to make tea on a kerosene stove — something I’d done many times before. But that day, everything changed. The stove burst into flames, and in seconds, I was engulfed. My face, chest, and scalp were severely burned. Since then, I’ve lived with unbearable pain — not just physical, but emotional too.

I have post-burn contractures on my lips, chin, neck, and ears. My scalp now has a tissue expander. I haven’t undergone any surgery yet because my parents simply can’t afford it. Together, they earn barely Rs 450 a day. They’ve sold whatever they could to care for me, but it’s not enough.

People often look at me with fear or pity. I’ve stopped going outside. I even stopped dreaming. But somewhere deep inside, I still hope — hope that one day I’ll look in the mirror and see myself again.

Doctors at Kalda Hospital say I need 8 stages of surgeries — release of contractures, skin grafting, flap surgery with tissue expansion. It’s a huge amount for my family, but it’s my only chance to live a normal life.

Please help me get this treatment. Help me smile without hiding. Help me live without shame. Your support can give me back my face, my life, and my dreams.

Your Donation Is Helping Not 1 But 3 People!

Your donation towards this fundraiser is not only helping Neha Raidas recover from post-burn contractures, but also helping two more patients in need:

  1. Sujata Divekar is suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant worth ₹28 lakhs.

Sujata Divekar, a 27-year-old mother, was living a peaceful life until she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After enduring fatigue, fever, and swelling, tests confirmed her worst fears. She's completed two rounds of chemotherapy and recently underwent emergency appendix surgery. Now, she needs a bone marrow transplant—her brother is a match, but the cost is overwhelming. Living far from the hospital, with a young child and elderly in-laws, the family is struggling. Sujata dreams of returning home—to be a mother again.

  1. Aradhita is fighting SMA (Type 2) and needs prolonged medicine which costs ₹5 crores.

Aradhita, 26, battles Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type II, leaving her paralyzed and dependent on her parents. Her family seeks ₹5 crores for Risdiplam treatment. Despite her artistic passion, Aradhita struggles with basic tasks. She dreams of independence but feels like a burden. Her parents, despite their love and reassurance, are helpless. Aradhita's story is a plea for help, a chance at a normal life.

Your donation towards this fundraiser will support both their treatments.

This campaign for a single patient can be converted into a multi-patient campaign, subject to the performance of this campaign. Once the funding requirement of a specific patient is met, multiple other beneficiaries can be helped through Impact Guru.

Should I wait for an organ donor before starting a fundraiser?

You need not wait for donor or have the organ ready. We actually suggest you start a fundraiser as soon as you can so that you are ready with the acquired funds and can get the surgery done immediately when you do receive an organ.

How can I track the impact of my donation?

Generally, most campaigners are reminded to leave updates on their fundraiser regarding the progress of their cause, whether it’s a nonprofit project or the health of a patient. You will get an email every time an update is posted. Alternately, you can use the "Contact campaigner" option on the fundraiser page to directly get in touch with the campaigner and understand how your donation benefited them.

Once the requirement of this patient will be met, any remaining funds will ultimately go towards helping other needy patients in line with Impact Guru's mission of helping save as many lives as possible.

Whose account will the funds be transferred to?

For all medical fundraisers, the funds will be directly transferred to the hospital’s account. Only in a few cases, based on Impact Guru’s discretion, the funds might be transferred to the campaigner or the patient’s account for postoperative or at home expenses.

In cases, where the funding requirement of the patient changes due to factors such as death, change of treatment plan on advice of hospital, delay in treatment, medical complications, Impact Guru utilizes the funds to help similar patients with the mission of helping save as many lives as possible.

Does Impact Guru help in promoting campaigns?

90%+ of Impact Guru’s campaigns raise funds leveraging our do-it-yourself fundraising platform.

The Accelerate initiative of Impact Guru caters primarily towards those individuals who are unable to create or manage their own fundraiser due to lack of education, access to smartphones, or social networks for fundraising support. Impact Guru provides fundraising support in such cases by maximizing outreach, leveraging all fundraising channels. In order to provide crucial life saving support to such patients, Impact Guru charges marketing cost paid to such third parties and its regular platform and payment gateway fees. Impact Guru's constant endeavour is to reduce such outreach costs to maximize social impact of every contribution.
