Until a year ago, my son was the best in his class in athletics and even enjoyed dancing when he wasn’t running on the track. Then his health began draining rapidly. Today, he has trouble walking the shortest distance. 6 months ago, my 14-year-old son Pushpendar was diagnosed with a hole in his heart. We admitted him to Apollo Hospital immediately and began his treatment.
Today, bouts of suffocation and coughing plague my son Pushpendar every single day and all I can do is helplessly watch him suffer. I spend countless sleepless nights trying to console him and ease his struggle as best as I can. Despite constant medication, as days pass by, his weakness engulfs him. His appetite has reduced to nearly nothing already.
For a child who always aimed high, baby steps are the only thing he hopes for now. After conducting various tests and scans, doctors told us that all his symptoms are severe, which means his condition has developed to a later stage. Now only an immediate heart surgery can save my son’s life.
I am a farmer here in Muradabad and I bring home an income of no more than Rs 7000 a month. To afford my son’s last 6 months’ treatment alone, we have borrowed far more than we can ever hope to pay back. And this has driven friends and family away from us. I don’t even have any hard feelings about this. When the matter is of my son’s life, I turn a deaf ear and blind eye to everything else.
We still cannot afford Pushpendar’s surgery, costing Rs 3.5 lakh. Doctors have said that it needs to be done in the next 2 weeks.
With my other kids’ education taking a back seat because of their bhaiya’s condition, Pushpendar’s siblings understand that it is not going to be easy. They have been doing everything to keep me strong while we pray and hope for Pushpender to get the treatment that he so badly requires.
With the rising urgency that has come along with this treatment, we need your contribution to give him the second chance at life that he deserves. We have a mere two weeks to save our son, and we can’t do this without you. My wife and I starve every day to be able to contribute as much as we can towards our son’s treatment. Often, our other children would watch us and choose to skip their meals with us too. Their kindness breaks my heart. They shouldn’t have to make such sacrifices.
Please make a donation towards our son’s surgery so we can bring him home, send him back to school and let him grow into the athlete he hopes to become. Share our appeal with your friends and family on Whatsapp and Facebook as well. We will forever be grateful for your kindness.
