Help Us Empower 80 At-Risk Girls Through Soccer - story -1

My name is Jenny Mills and I am with Limitless Child International. We bring services, including education and sports, to children living without their families, in orphanages and in extreme poverty. This project uses soccer to empower vulnerable girls living in child care centers, orphanages, and a large slum in Pune, India.

The issue: Young girls living in slum areas are at extremely high risk of dropping out of school and being forced into early marriage, slavery, or human trafficking.  Those who are orphaned or forced to live in institutional care are at even higher risk because they have no safety net once they leave the orphanage or residential home.

The solution: Through our soccer program, these girls experience success, learn the value of team-work, and increase their self-esteem and resilience. Most importantly, they create lasting connections with coaches/mentors during this year-long project.  We utilize a peer coaching model, through which college and high school aged students travel from the US to coach the girls, learn about their lives, become their champions, and develop lasting friendships. We then engage a local set of coaches to continue working with the girls throughout the coming year. This type of lasting connection to caring "champions" has a stabilizing impact on vulnerable children and can make all the difference in their lives.

Your donations will be used to purchase soccer equipment for 4 teams of 20 girls each (nets, balls, bags, cones) uniforms for the girls (shorts, shirts, shoes, socks, shin guards, bibs), rental fees for a field for one year, compensation for a local coach for one year.  100% of your donation will go to these items.

Thank you for your support. We are grateful for your help!
