When Kaarthikeyan was born, I promised myself that I would always protect him.

For fourteen years, my greatest worries were his exams, his dreams, and making sure he never missed a meal before school. Today, my only prayer is that he survives.

My son, Kaarthikeyan, is our only child. He should be spending his days preparing for his Grade 10 board exams, laughing with his friends, and planning for the future. Instead, he is lying in a hospital bed, fighting Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and life-threatening disease that has caused his own immune system to attack his body.

It all began with a high fever, severe weakness, and sudden weight loss. We never imagined those symptoms would lead us here. Every new test brought more uncertainty until doctors finally diagnosed HLH.

Watching my son change so quickly has shattered me. He has lost several kilograms, often feels dizzy, experiences blackouts, and now depends on me just to walk!

Every step he takes reminds me how much this disease has already taken from him.

After weeks of uncertainty, Kaarthikeyan's platelet count has improved from 96,000 to 1,86,000. This positive progress has enabled doctors to begin his chemotherapy, bringing him one step closer to recovery.

My husband and I have stopped working so we can remain by his side. We have already spent several lakhs on his treatment, supported by the kindness of our colleagues, but the medical expenses continue to grow beyond what we can manage.
