The COVID-19 pandemic has been called a global black swan event, a 500-year flood and even a war. Recognizing that we are in a moment in history that is unique, crucial, and potentially inflective, COVIDIndia.org seeks to impact the course of the pandemic in India. Throughout history, small focused groups have disproportionately impacted the course of human events. COVIDIndia.org shall do the same. We will do this because we can. And we will do this because we must.
The COVIDIndia.org project is not just a website. It is a movement, supported by 250+ volunteers. Besides the timely, actionable, credibly sourced, and verified content on the site, we are engaged in numerous offline activities to help increase ventilator production, introduce rapid testing kits, build contact tracing tech and much more.
At COVIDIndia.org, we are combating the pandemic through a three pronged approach: Understanding, Awareness and Action. We have numerous initiatives that seek to deliver on these key areas:
Understanding - COVIDIndia.org is constantly searching and reviewing credible sources of information so that we stay abreast of the evolving, and often confusing data emerging across the globe. We understand, we verify, we corroborate, and only then we assimilate. At a time when medical experts can agree only to disagree, we need a higher level of diligence before we accept and publish data.
Awareness - To contain or mitigate the pandemic, a primary message from WHO has been that countries need to effect a population level “mindset change”. The awareness program delivers the content produced by the understanding stream to relevant stakeholders. This is through the website, outreach teams and affiliated organisations Our content reaches doctors, individuals, government bodies, and of course, the general population. As of now, we don’t have any field awareness building efforts; most of our awareness efforts are online, with some person to person calling.
Action -At COVIDIndia.org , all of what we do is because we are trying to impact the course of the pandemic in India. Therefore, along with awareness, we have over a dozen impact streams to support the “war” effort: we are helping with ventilator production, PPE supply, feeding people during the fallout, making testing kits available, building contact tracing tech, and much much more.
Funds raised for this campaign will be used to fund the activities of the Covidindia.org organisation and primarily for the following activities;
- To support the costs of developing and maintaining the Covidindia.org website in order to be able to continue providing accurate, verified and up to date information
- To support the launch of our Epidemiology Survey which seeks to measure the true spread of Covid19 in India
- To support our fundraising efforts and help feed the many poor who have been displaced by the economic effects of the pandemic as well as protect our frontline workers with PPE kits.
Thank you for being part of the Human Response!
