My father, Hiren Rozario, is 69, and I have watched him live with ankylosing spondylitis for many years. But since May 2026, our lives have changed completely. He has now been diagnosed with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, an advanced kidney cancer that has spread to his brain, spine and lymph nodes.
He has already undergone radiation to his brain and spine, but the cancer and his condition have left him paralysed from the waist down. He has very little sensation in his lower body and cannot properly feel when he needs to pass urine or stool. He needs help with even his basic daily activities and requires a nurse or caregiver at home. On top of this, he has suffered an acute kidney injury and a urinary infection/uro-sepsis, making this an even more difficult time for him.
His doctors have started Nivolumab immunotherapy, and his oral chemotherapy is now beginning. He will need to continue his cancer treatment along with regular blood tests, scans, consultations and supportive care.

As his son, it is painful to see my father, who has already spent years dealing with one painful condition, now face cancer and paralysis as well. We are not asking for anything extraordinary for him. We just want him to regain some strength, live with less pain, become as independent as his condition allows, and have peaceful time with our family. We are doing everything we can to keep his treatment going, but the growing medical expenses and the need for a caregiver have become difficult for our family to manage.

डॉक्टरों ने निवोलुमैब इम्यूनोथेरेपी शुरू कर दी है और अब उनकी ओरल कीमोथेरेपी भी शुरू हो रही है। उन्हें कैंसर के इलाज के साथ-साथ रेगुलर ब्लड टेस्ट, स्कैन, कंसल्टेशन और सपोर्टिव केयर की ज़रूरत होगी।
