My son Haro has always been a brilliant, talented boy. I was so proud of him—he is a chess champion who has already won certificates for his skill. He used to tell his father, "Dad, if I play chess, I can go to many places in the world".

He dreamed of studying hard to become a District Magistrate one day. He was a normal, healthy child... until everything changed in a single day.

It was a Friday morning when he suddenly said, "Mom, I am not able to move my fingers". We thought it was just the cold making him weak. I massaged his hands with oil, telling him he would get his strength back.

But by evening, he couldn't eat his rice; he was in pain and kept throwing up. By the next morning, he couldn't even stand on his own feet.

We rushed him to a children's hospital, and my heart shattered when I heard the doctors mention a brain stroke. Haro was alert; he heard them. He looked at me with tears in his eyes and asked, "Mom, will I survive? Will I go home?". I told him, "Why won't you live? The doctor will make you well and take you home," but inside, I was dying of fear.

That night was a nightmare. His right side became completely paralyzed. At 1:30 AM, the hospital told us his condition was deteriorating and we had to move him. There was no ambulance available. There was no oxygen cylinder. My husband carried him in his arms, and we requested an Ola driver to drive as fast as he could. We told Haro, "Son, just give us 10 minutes. Call out to God and hold on for 10 minutes."

Now, my son is in the ICU at Apollo Hospital, fighting for every breath. They finally found the cause: Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare condition where the body attacks its own nervous system. A machine in his neck breathes for him now. He cannot move his arms or legs, but when we speak to him, he blinks his eyes to say, "I’m trying, Dad".

We have exhausted everything we had to keep him alive. We have borrowed from every relative and friend, but the cost of Plasma Therapy and ICU care is astronomical. We have nothing left to give. Seeing my playful, brilliant boy covered in machines and tubes is a pain I cannot describe.

I beg all of you... please pray for my child. And if you can, please help us afford the treatment he needs to walk and breathe again. Don't let my son's story end here. Please save my child.

(PS: If you can’t donate for any reason, please share Haro’s story with your friends and family. Every bit helps.)

How can I track the impact of my donation?

Generally, most campaigners are reminded to leave updates on their fundraiser regarding the progress of their cause, whether it’s a nonprofit project or the health of a patient. You will get an email every time an update is posted. Alternately, you can use the "Contact campaigner" option on the fundraiser page to directly get in touch with the campaigner and understand how your donation benefited them.

Once the requirement of this patient will be met, any remaining funds will ultimately go towards helping other needy patients in line with Impact Guru's mission of helping save as many lives as possible.

For all medical fundraisers, the funds will be directly transferred to the hospital’s account. Only in a few cases, based on Impact Guru’s discretion, the funds might be transferred to the campaigner or the patient’s account for postoperative or at home expenses.

In cases, where the funding requirement of the patient changes due to factors such as death, change of treatment plan on advice of hospital, delay in treatment, medical complications, Impact Guru utilizes the funds to help similar patients with the mission of helping save as many lives as possible.
