My beloved uncle, Kuldeepsingh Bhurji, is going through the toughest phase of his life. Every day has become a struggle because of his failing heart. He is suffering from severe tricuspid regurgitation, where one of the valves in his heart is leaking badly, causing blood to flow backwards instead of moving normally. This has enlarged and weakened the right side of his heart and has even started affecting his liver. He is constantly breathless, his legs remain swollen, his abdomen fills with fluid, and he feels exhausted even after doing the smallest tasks. Watching a man who was once so active now struggle to walk a few steps or carry on with his daily routine has been heartbreaking for our entire family. My uncle had already undergone a mechanical mitral valve replacement in 1999, and we never imagined he would have to fight another serious heart condition decades later.

After several tests and his hospitalisation in June 2026, the doctors gave us news we were not prepared for. They explained that medicines can only provide temporary relief and that delaying treatment could lead to worsening heart failure, further liver damage, and other life-threatening complications. They have urgently advised a Percutaneous Tricuspid Valve Replacement (PTVR/TTVR), a minimally invasive procedure that is the safest option considering his previous heart surgery.

It is incredibly difficult to watch someone who has spent more than 30 years helping others now depend on the kindness of strangers. My uncle has always been the first person to guide families during medical emergencies, help people find the right doctors, and stand by those in need without expecting anything in return. His only wish after recovering is to regain his health and continue doing what he has always believed in, being there for people when they need him the most.

The cost of his medical bills has piled upto lakhs. My family and I have tried every possible way to collect the needed funds for my uncle’s treatment, but we have exhausted all our financial resources.

मेरे प्यारे अंकल, कुलदीप सिंह भुरजी, अपनी ज़िंदगी के सबसे मुश्किल दौर से गुज़र रहे हैं। कमज़ोर दिल की वजह से हर दिन एक संघर्ष बन गया है। उन्हें गंभीर 'ट्राइकस्पिड रीगर्जिटेशन' (tricuspid regurgitation) है, जिसमें दिल का एक वॉल्व बुरी तरह लीक हो रहा है, जिससे खून सामान्य रूप से आगे बढ़ने के बजाय पीछे की ओर बह रहा है। इस वजह से उनके दिल का दाहिना हिस्सा बड़ा और कमज़ोर हो गया है और इसका असर उनके लिवर पर भी पड़ने लगा है। उन्हें लगातार सांस लेने में तकलीफ़ होती है, उनके पैर सूजे रहते हैं, पेट में फ़्लूइड भर जाता है, और छोटे-छोटे काम करने के बाद भी वे बहुत थका हुआ महसूस करते हैं। जो इंसान कभी इतना एक्टिव था, उसे अब कुछ कदम चलने या रोज़मर्रा के काम करने के लिए संघर्ष करते देखना हमारे पूरे परिवार के लिए दिल तोड़ने वाला है। मेरे अंकल की 1999 में पहले ही मैकेनिकल माइट्रल वॉल्व रिप्लेसमेंट सर्जरी हो चुकी थी, और हमने कभी नहीं सोचा था कि दशकों बाद उन्हें दिल की एक और गंभीर बीमारी से लड़ना पड़ेगा।

कई टेस्ट और जून 2026 में अस्पताल में भर्ती होने के बाद, डॉक्टरों ने हमें ऐसी खबर दी जिसके लिए हम तैयार नहीं थे। उन्होंने बताया कि दवाइयाँ सिर्फ़ कुछ समय के लिए ही राहत दे सकती हैं और इलाज में देरी करने से हार्ट फ़ेलियर और भी गंभीर हो सकता है, लिवर को और नुकसान पहुँच सकता है और जानलेवा परेशानियाँ हो सकती हैं। उन्होंने तुरंत 'परक्यूटेनियस ट्राइकस्पिड वॉल्व रिप्लेसमेंट' (PTVR/TTVR) करवाने की सलाह दी है। यह एक 'मिनिमली इनवेसिव' (कम चीर-फाड़ वाली) प्रक्रिया है और उनकी पिछली हार्ट सर्जरी को देखते हुए यह सबसे सुरक्षित विकल्प है।

जिस इंसान ने 30 से ज़्यादा साल दूसरों की मदद करने में बिताए हों, उसे अब अजनबियों की दया पर निर्भर देखना बहुत मुश्किल है। मेरे अंकल हमेशा मेडिकल इमरजेंसी के समय परिवारों का मार्गदर्शन करने, लोगों को सही डॉक्टर खोजने में मदद करने और बिना किसी उम्मीद के ज़रूरतमंदों का साथ देने वाले पहले व्यक्ति रहे हैं। ठीक होने के बाद उनकी बस यही इच्छा है कि वे अपनी सेहत वापस पा सकें और वही काम करते रहें जिसमें उनका हमेशा से विश्वास रहा है—यानी ज़रूरत के समय लोगों के काम आना।

उनके मेडिकल बिल का खर्च लाखों में पहुँच गया है। मैंने और मेरे परिवार ने अंकल के इलाज के लिए ज़रूरी पैसे जुटाने की हर मुमकिन कोशिश की है, लेकिन हमारे सारे आर्थिक संसाधन खत्म हो चुके हैं।
