I am Manik Khanna. I have been working with World Peace Mission Trust since the last 2 years.
World Peace Mission Trust was founder in 1991 by Late Shri. Avtar Singh and Shri. J.R. Shastri and was registered on 19/04/1996 at Chandigarh. The motto of World Peace Mission Trust is to educate children of the poorer section who are living in rural or slum areas , to teach children to maintain hygiene and to inculcate good habits among children. World Peace Mission Trust also trains girls/women in stitching and help them in becoming self sufficient. As the name suggests, the World Peace Mission Trust also promotes peace in the world through various events which are organised by the trust.
Presently, World Peace Mission Trust has 8 education centres where children are getting 3 hours of education everyday. The organisation has 16 teachers and 1 supervisor . Children are given stationary and refreshments everyday. Each student is also provided with uniforms, school bag and shoes every year. World Peace Mission Trust has 5 sewing centres where approximately 80-90 women/girls are getting trained in stitching. These women are provided with sewing machines and are trained for 6 months. About 80% of the women trained till now, have started to work from home resulting in self employment and women empowerment. The women who have started to work from home have been provided with 1 sewing machine each absolutely free of cost. The mission has helped the weaker section of the society to stand on their own feet. World Peace Mission Trust also educates the youth about world peace through various events like painting competitions, street shows, essay competitions.
Various other NGO’s and agencies are supporting the mission. Some of the these are Lions Club Chandigarh, SBI ladies club Chandigarh, Rotary Club Panchkula and Rajasthan Parishad Chandigarh.
World Peace Mission Trust has bought a land worth Rs.21 lacs in Jagatpura, Distt. Mohali. We are raising funds for construction of a Skill Centre which we have named SEVA SADAN, which would aim at developing skill in a particular specialised field which would interest the candidate. Some skills which have been finalised are welding techniques, plumbing, electrical fitting (domestic), computer centre (for basic knowledge of Microsoft office and data entry). One small dispensary would also be constructed and every week a free medical check up camp would be organised for the general masses.
World Peace Mission Trust, has been continuously working since years for betterment of the society and upliftment of the weaker sections of the society.
On behalf of World Peace Mission Trust, I appeal to everyone to contribute generously and make this social project successful.
