Debosmita, our 12-year-old daughter, has been fighting SMA Type-2 with tenacity. She has not let her illness dim her hopes. Despite her illness, my daughter attends school and is a brilliant student academically.

Hello, my name is Debashish Ghosh, and I am here to raise funds for our daughter, Debosmita. She is suffering from a rare and debilitating neuromuscular disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 2 which poses a serious threat to her life.

When our daughter was born, we were overjoyed. We were on the seventh sky, and our joy knew no bounds. But we had no idea she'd be born with such a heinous disease. We want her to have a fulfilling future. A chance to live a full, happy, and long life rather than just survive.

When we found out about her illness, the ground beneath our feet began to tremble because we had not expected this to happen to her. Because of this illness, our daughter was never able to walk. However, she likes dancing and tries moving to the tune while sitting in a wheelchair. She is also fond of painting and often makes sketches.

Her muscles are weakening with each passing day as a result of her illness. She has difficulty breathing and requires BiPaP assistance. Her days are becoming increasingly difficult.
We are currently raising Rs 10 crore for longer-term therapeutic treatment. Risdipalm is the only drug approved in India for her condition.

The drug Risdipalm is a continuous treatment that improves the quality of life and stops disease progression. This drug comes with an exorbitant cost annually. Through a compassionate use program, my child has received this drug – however, this support will end very soon. Stopping this medication will put at risk the progress she has made and shorten her life.
We are trying to raise funds to continue treating Debosmita with Risdipalm. Your contribution will help save her life, please open your heart, and donate. A follow and a share on social media will help us reach out and spread Debosmita’s story.

Increasingly, SMA cases have been treated due to advances in life-saving therapies and medicines. Educating people about the disease and its diagnosis could save their lives and keep Debosmita and others smiling!
“Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.”
The goal amount of the campaign may be higher than the attached estimates to address and aid the post-hospitalization expenses/contingencies including but not limited to prolonged medication, diagnostics, rehabilitation therapies, and follow-up doctor visits/consultations which vary from disease to disease.
