At just 920 grams, Sapna Dahiya's son entered the world two months early.
The seventh month of pregnancy became about survival. When Sapna’s baby boy arrived prematurely on October 24th, 2025, Sapna's dreams of cradling a healthy child shattered into a thousand medical terms she never wanted to learn: extreme low birth weight, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, necrotising enterocolitis, chronic lung disease.

The Rainbow Children's Hospital became their second home. While other families celebrated Diwali, Sapna watched her son fight for every breath. His tiny body, smaller than most dolls, lay in the NICU. The jaundice turned his soft skin yellow. His lungs, underdeveloped and struggling, needed constant support. His intestines, damaged by infection, required emergency surgery on November 17th.

3 years into their love marriage, this should have been their season of joy - their first child, their beginning. Instead, it's become a test of everything they have. The NICU charges don't pause. The ventilator doesn't negotiate. The medicines don't wait for next month's salary. Today, their 2-month-old son is still critically small, still on a ventilator in the NICU. Still needing 4-6 more weeks of intensive care before he can even dream of going home.

Sapna, a housewife with empty arms and a heart full of hope, watches other mothers leave the hospital with healthy babies. She stays behind, pressing her hand against the isolette glass, whispering promises to the son she's barely held. His fight isn't over. Neither is theirs.

But fighting costs money they don't have and time is running out.
