Our daughter, Anwesha Maity, is a bright 10-year-old girl with dreams as big as the sky. She loves going to school and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. But since she was just four months old, our little girl has been battling a severe condition called Beta Thalassemia.
Beta Thalassemia means that Anwesha’s body can’t make enough healthy blood. Because of this, she needs blood transfusions twice a month. Without these transfusions, she becomes extremely tired, runs a fever, and can’t even do simple things that other children take for granted, like playing with her friends or concentrating on her studies.
The doctors at Rainbow Children’s Hospital have told us that the only permanent solution is a bone marrow transplant. Either my wife or I will be the donor, but the cost of the procedure is something we cannot afford on our own. I am a farmer, earning just Rs 300 a day, and my wife is a housewife. We also have an older daughter who is in 10th grade. We live in a small village in West Bengal, and every day is a struggle to make ends meet.
Anwesha deserves a chance to live a healthy, happy life. We want to see her fulfill her dreams, but we need your help to make this possible. You will get an email every time an update is posted.
