Dear friends,

We are the cast and crew of Malayalam feature film KAATTU VITHACHAVAR (The ones who sowed wind) being produced by the teachers and final year diploma students of Oriental Film Institute, Kozhikode. The film is a political thriller based on the police investigation in 1977 under the then Kerala DIG Rajgopal Narayan to find out what happened to P Rajan, a final year student of Calicut NIT (then REC) who was arrested by the police and later went missing during the emergency period. Our aim is to make a gripping fictional film which introduces to the new generation a glorious part of Kerala history marked with fierce rebellion against social disparities and exploitation.

Dr Satheesh Paul,  a mechanical engineer turned filmmaker and a faculty member at Oriental, is the director of the film. The film is based on Satheesh's  own published script of the same name. Another faculty member Shibu Attukal is the cinematographer of the film.  Both direction and cinematography  are being assisted by their students. Suresh Achoos, filmmaker and the director of the Oriental Institute is leading the production effort. Shibu Kuriakose, an advocate by profession, has come forward to be a coproducer for the project. All things on the technical front including the editing are handled by the students.

The team has roped in actors Prakash Bare, Tini Tom, Jayaprakash Kulur, Babu Annur, Rajeevan Vellur, Manojkumar, Deepak Raj, Dr Asheel, Santhosh Irumbazhy and more than 100 theater actors and freshers, selected through extensive auditioning.

The budget for the film is 20L rupees, most of it going towards the shoot and post production expenses. So far, we have commitments for Rs 6L and completed 40% of the shoot. Our hope is to raise 10L rupees with your support through online crowd funding. We would appreciate if you could contribute an amount by clicking on the donate button and/or sharing this fundraiser with your family and friends. We would acknowledge all the contributions through following credits in the film:
