"Dream higher than the sky and deeper than the ocean" - That's what we did as kids and that's what the 130 little dreamers whom I and Shilpa teach, do. They dream BIG.
And the spark you see in their eyes when they say I want to become a pilot, a doctor, a nurse, a police officer or even a Maulana, makes you want to make sure they catch these dreams. Unlike us though, these kids studying in a low income private school, do not have access to basic facilities like books, library, playground or a computer and science lab. I truly believe that the economic and social situation of the kids shouldn't restrict them from achieving their dreams.
Our kids are extremely talented, intelligent, smart and have a lot of potential. Just to narrate an incident which happened in my classroom, I had spread newspapers on the floor for the kids to sit and do their activity. After everything got over I picked up the newspapers and thought of keeping them in the storeroom since they were torn and dirty. Farha, the little girl in my class came up to me and asked me "ma'am can you please give me the newspapers? I want to take it home and read it". This little girl opened my eyes and since then I'm trying hard to provide everything to my kids which will help them to learn better and become a better person and fulfil their dreams.
I and Shilpa have been striving hard to bridge this gap and make education more accessible to our kids by starting a library, setting up a projector, exposing them to the world of books, activities, art and technology, and making learning a fun experience. Please do contribute and support us in turning their dreams into reality.
