Career Counselling Campaign

The objective of CCC is to bring a career awareness among the students and their parents at secondary school level.Gain awareness and knowledge of self by assessing interests, abilities/ transferable skills, values, and personality as they relate to career choices.Help to identify the factors influencing career development, and help to assess interests, abilities, and values.

Abhyuday, IIT Bombay, the social body of the institute, tries to address this problem, by leading a city-wide initiative, called Career Counselling Campaign (CCC). This program would benefit the student community greatly as it would provide an opportunity for the students to know a vast information about the various career paths and pursue their career according to their interest and resources. Abhyuday, social body of IIT Bombay, an educational institution providing this valuable information will be of great use to the students to design their career wisely.

In a country of 1.2 billion, there would undoubtedly remain some unsolved issues, and staggering limitations. But when those lurking problems pose a serious challenge to a nation%u2019s development, it really presents a grave danger. One such elephant in the room is lack of education. In our country there are many bright students but due to lack of proper guidance some of them never get the things, which they actually deserve. With about 39% students (source: dnaindia report) dropping out of schools before completing elementary education, the country faces a challenge of growing unskilled labor. There are many reasons. Poverty, poor academic performance, substandard teaching, migration and need for employment to support the family are major factors behind the higher dropout rate of the boys, say experts.

For most students course choice after 10th and a stream after 12th is matter of chance and societal pressure. They are largely determined by their academic performance and not by choice. Career Counseling is a process that will help students to know and understand themselves and the world of work in order to make career, educational, and life decisions. The goal of this is not only to help people make decisions now, but to give knowledge and skills they need to make future career and life decisions. We aim to guide through the process of goal setting in your career endeavors. The career counselor can help you identify the steps needed to reach important goals along the way as you explore all the career options. This will help people to locate resources and sources of career information. The plan of action is to conduct workshops in schools in Mumbai and later expand it to private schools. The career counselling workshop will also aim at benefiting School Teachers by providing helpful information to them about career planning in a stage when students are in dilemma.
