Cancer is such a disease which can have a terrible effect on not only the patient’s physical health but also their mental health. Cancer spares no one, not even children. The pain they go through is unimaginable. Weekly trips to the hospital, the chemo sessions and surgeries can take a toll on any child. These children still manage to keep going through it all knowing that they have the support of people all around the world.
Generous donors from all over the world want these children to be playful and always smiling. They want them to have long and healthy lives. They believed they could make a difference and came forward to donate to fundraisers on Impact Guru and help them raise funds for their cancer treatments.
Here are 3 children who are putting up a brave fight against cancer on Impact Guru:
1. A 4 year-old fights 3 cancerous tumours
4 year-old Pavitra had developed lumps on her neck and near her ear. She was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma - a rare form of cancer. The tumours on her neck cannot be operated upon because it would prove fatal for the girl’s life.
She had to go through 8 cycles of chemotherapy and injections which would reduce her tumour. Baby Pavitra struggles to breathe as one of the tumours presses against her windpipe. The cost of treatment was Rs 3 lakhs which the girl’s family was unable to afford.
How is baby Pavitra now?
Here is the most recent update on Baby Pavitra’s health:
Baby Pavitra's tumour has come down in size and the swelling has reduced. She now gets chemotherapy at the hospital, once a week. She also gets chemo injections. Once she covers another 7 such chemo cycles, she will get a test done to check if her body is ready for radiotherapy.
If you recall, Baby Pavitra's tumour is located in such a part of her throat that surgery can be fatal. Therefore, the doctors will use radiotherapy to eliminate the tumour.
Baby Pavitra needs all your love and support to conquer cancer. Please send her all your blessings.”
2. Little Manvitha’s battle against Leukemia and GVHD
Little Manvitha was 2 years old when she was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Doctors said a bone marrow transplant would help her beat the disease. Her parents used up all their funds for the transplant.
Few months after the transplant, little Manvitha was diagnosed with Graft versus host disease. This condition is life-threatening as the donor cells (from the transplanted bone marrow) attack the recipient’s cells- Manvitha. Along with that, she also suffers from a concurrent viral infection.
Immunosuppressive therapy and supportive care costing Rs 12 lakhs was the only chance little Manvitha had of getting better. Her parents were already deeply in debt and could not afford the treatment.
How is little Manvitha now?
This was the most recent update on her health:
Manvitha was discharged from the hospital as her health eventually stabilized.
She may need future hospitalization, in case her health falls again. For now, she will need to continue with her medicines, stay in a sanitized environment to avoid any infections and follow all the doctors' advice.
Please continue praying for Manvitha's good health.”
3. Baby Manvith’s road to a Bone marrow transplant
Chandru was raising funds for his son, Manvith, who was diagnosed with Thalassemia Major when he was just a few weeks old. He has been undergoing blood transfusions since then.
The only chance for him to have a normal life was to undergo a Bone marrow transplant.
They found a complete HLA matching donor for Manvith’s transplant. The doctors have estimated that the cost for the treatment was Rs 30 lakhs
How is Baby Manvith now?
This was the most recent update on his health:
Baby Manvith gets monthly blood transfusions and daily medication. The child is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant to survive a fatal blood disorder- Thalassemia major.
Unfortunately, her parents are unable to afford the little one's urgent surgery. Please support the child's treatment by sharing his story all across and requesting your friends and family to help out.”
